Pastoral Care & Healing

Bereavement Hospitality
Patti Underwood, Mary Stewart King

This ministry provides a warm welcome and gathering place for family and friends following memorial services held here at Good Shepherd.  This Ministry sets up the Parish Hall, arranges for food that is provided by the parish, monitors refreshments and tables, and cleans up.

Order of St. Luke
Joe Rybicki, Rachel Baughn

The Order of St. Luke the Physician is an International Christian Healing organization and members are trained in several types of healing prayer.  The River of Healing chapter based at Good Shepherd offers healing prayer to all who seek healing and wholeness in Jesus Christ.  Bible study, training and mentoring are basic to the preparations of prayer ministers.  Monthly meetings provide ongoing training, discussions and prayer.

Volunteers to help with needs that arise with our parishioners such as errands, meals, phone calls, visiting, and transportation.

Prayer Chain
Sue Le Kites

A group of people dedicated to praying for individuals who are experiencing physical, spiritual, or emotional problems. You need regular access to a computer to receive the requests by email, and the time and willingness to pray regularly.

Prayer Shawl Ministryprayer shawl
Elizabeth Rybicki

Knit and crochet shawls for those in need of prayer and comfort due to illness and other life situations.  Also knit shawls for celebrations such as a new baby or a new ministry.  Meet once a month on second Monday at  10 am at Good Shepherd to knit together in fellowship and for prayer.  Shawls are placed on the altar during church services and blessed afterwards by our clergy.  You can participate by knitting or crocheting, by requesting a shawl for someone, or by donating supplies for the knitters to use.

Stephen Ministry
Barbara Brewton, Sue Le Kites, Toni Moral

A Stephen Minister is assigned to visit a care receiver once a week to help the care receiver talk through personal problems such as grief, illness, and other life changing circumstances.  Stephen Ministers receive 50 hours of training, then attend supervision and continuing education twice a month, and agree to a pledge of confidentiality and a commitment for a two year period or longer.
